I teach 6th grade ancient history. We study the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome. I also teach one section of current events where students learn about current news events through answering questions, summarizing and presenting.
A little about myself, I have one child who’s name is Anthony, he’s involved in tennis and hockey at the high school and travel level. I taught 7th grade social studies at Thornapple Kellogg Middle School for 7 years and now teach 6th grade history. Previously, I taught third grade for two years at Knapp Charter Academy, Grand Rapids. My field experience includes; pre-teaching at West Elementary (Wyoming) in the second grade, and student teaching at Aberdeen Elementary (Grand Rapids) also in second grade. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and I'm certified for teaching grades k-5 Elementary, and 6-8 Social Studies.
My hobbies include playing hockey and soccer, lifting weights, and staying fit. My favorite Pro teams are the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots, only because I'm originally from Rhode Island. Throughout my school years, I stayed active playing hockey, soccer, baseball and basketball.
