Educators from Kalamazoo Air Zoo talked with students about the different constellations, stars, asteroids, and moons. They learned about the Earth's orbit and could see different planets within the galaxy.
The Milky Way was easily spotted streaking across the darkened ceiling of the inflatable dome. Likewise, students easily picked out the Big Dipper and some other constellations even before a new program outlined and identified each one.
They talked about black holes and other galaxies and what might some day happen to our own planet Earth.
This was a perfect way to wrap up a unit in science on the Earth's place in the solar system.
The Middle School received a grant from Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation to help cover the cost of this experience being brought to the middle school.
