Hi! My name is Mr. Cove, and I’m thrilled to be teaching at TKMS for my 5th year and in my 6th year overall as an educator. Before joining middle school, I taught 4th and 5th grade, which helped me build a strong foundation in guiding students through key transitions in their learning journey.

I’m a lifelong Barry County resident and a proud graduate of Hastings High School (Class of 2015). I earned my Elementary Education and Social Studies degree from Hope College, followed by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Design from Western Governors University.

Outside of school, I live in Hastings with my wife, Madie, and our two dogs, Kenobi and Anakin (yes, I’m a big Star Wars fan!). In my free time, I enjoy traveling, playing video games, attending concerts, and competing in board game nights.

At TKMS, I also have the privilege of directing the school plays, where I work with incredibly talented performers each year. Watching students grow in confidence and creativity on stage is one of my favorite parts of the show!

I believe that history is one of the most important and exciting subjects—it’s filled with fun, weird, and interesting stories that help us better understand the world and our place in it. My goal is to make learning history engaging, meaningful, and relevant for all my students.
